Kitchen Clean-up: UCW will be cleaning the kitchen at the church tomorrow night, starting at 6:30. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You may want to bring a pail, gloves, cleaning solution and cloths. With lots of help, we’ll be done in no time.
Exploring Our Faith: This week the Exploring Our Faith group will not be meeting as Rev. Peter is away. However, we will gather at 3:30 pm next week, in room 205 and this will be followed by the multi congregation pot luck supper. All are welcome!
Bulletin sponsorship: The bulletins for 2012 are posted on the side bulletin board. Please consider sponsoring a Sunday bulletin for any special occasion or remembrance in your family.
The new Sunday school session has started up and we need volunteers.
A little about our program: we are a one room Sunday school with children varying in age from 2 to 10 or 11. Our numbers vary from 3 to about 8 per Sunday. The package is very detailed with a main theme/story and lots of ideas each week for games, activities and prayers.
What you’d need to do/commit to: as little or as much as you’d like. Last session we had 4 teachers with varied styles. Some picked a Sunday at a time, some covered a month at a time.
If you’re interested in signing up or getting more info, please contact me at 669-6353 (home) or by e-mail lindsaychiasson@theedge.ca. It would be great if we could get more people involved. Thanks for thinking about it.
Lenten Lunches: The Yellowknife Ministerial Association is once again sponsoring a lunch on each Wednesday during the season of Lent. Beginning on February 22, these soup and sandwich lunches at noon in the basement of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, followed by a speaker from one of the churches in Yellowknife, are a good way to enjoy a hearty meal and mark the season with thought and prayer. Holy Family Lutheran Church and Yellowknife United Church have been asked to provide lunch for the second Lenten Lunch on February 29. If you can help with soup or some sandwiches, please tell Peter or Marg Henderson.
Moderator Mardi Tindal is coming to Yellowknife! It's been in the wind for a few weeks now, but we received official word this week that the Moderator of The United Church of Canada, Mardi Tindal is coming to Yellowknife for a week beginning on March 8. She will be accompanied by her son Alex and by our friend, Nora Sanders, General Secretary of the church, and her son Johny. Mardi will participate in worship on March 11, and there will be a number of other opportunities and events planned as the time draws closer. Watch this space for more information.
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: It was decided recently that Yellowknife will mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity a bit later than the rest of the world! Next Sunday, February 19, we have been invited to participate in a multi-congregation potluck dinner here at Northern United Place auditorium, starting at 6:00pm. This will be followed by a worship service prepared by members of the Christian community in Poland. Come and celebrate our unity as the Body of Christ by sharing in worship and at table.
2011 Receipt envelopes are on the side table. Please pick your’s up today and any family or friend’s that you can pass on. Thank you.
The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on February 21 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Admission will be $7.00 per person, free for children under five. Ingredient and volunteer sign-up sheets are on the church bulletin board; all supplies must be at the church by 2:00 p.m. on Shrove Tuesday. The men of the church will be doing the cooking again this year. For more information contact Barb Paquin at 873-4314.
