Save the Date… YKUC is proud to have been chosen as a stop for Ron Klusmeier’s 2012-13 farewell “Tour of a Lifetime.” Ron is the composer of many wonderful hymns including “Deep in our Hearts” and Would you Bless our Homes and Families.” On September 5 Ron will be holding a free music workshop that will include music he has written between 2007-2012. This free workshop is open to choir leaders, musicians, choir members and clergy. Ron’s life partner, Christina, will be holding a workshop at the same time which will focus on the use of technology in worship. This workshop will cost $30. Ron’s visit to Yellowknife will be capped off by an amazing night of music and fellowship on September 6th, 2012.
We are looking for a billet for one more person who will be travelling with Ron and Christina. If you are able to provide a room for September 5th and 6th, 2012 please let anyone from the planning committee know.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from the Yellowknife United Church office. If you have any questions, please speak to one of the planning committee, Sean D, Brenda T or Terrilyn H
Looking for Accommodations: Do you know of housesitting opportunities in Yellowknife for September and October? The M&P Committee is looking for accommodations for Peter and Sue Short while Peter is providing “weekend supply” ministry. If you know of an opportunity please call Margaret M at 873-2519.
The Community Life and Membership Committee has organized pastoral care coverage during Rev. Peter Chynoweth’s four month sabbatical. For emergencies and major events the following clergy will provide coverage:
August – Pastor Kirk Tastad (from the Lutheran Church)
September – Padre Bastien Leclerc (DND Chaplain)
October – Padre Bastien Leclerc
November – Pastor Kirk Tastad
For all other pastoral care issues, a team of congregation members is available. The team consists of Cappy E (except for August 10 – September 3), Nancy T, Susan A and Lloyd H (October and November only).
The church office administrator will refer pastoral care concerns to the appropriate individuals. Members of the congregation are asked to be particularly attentive to the needs of fellow church members during the period of Peter’s sabbatical.
If you are interested in following the project that Peter is exploring during his sabbatical from August 1, 2012 to November 30, 2012, you can follow the blog which he will be using: opensourcespiritseeker.wordpress.com
