Meeting for Worship at 10:30

Come and worship among Friends! We are a loving, welcoming fellowship, drawn from West Branch, Iowa City, West Liberty, and other nearby communities. We enjoy a vital worship experience. Ours is a programmed meeting with pastoral leadership, children's messages, congregational, choral and handbell music, scripture readings, and a period of expectant listening open to the leading of the Spirit. We are drawn together by Quaker testimonies and concerns, and most of all, by God's love.

Quakers emphasize God's continuing presence as Teacher and Lord. We emphasize listening to the living Word of God as revealed in Scripture, as well as the spirit of Christ speaking both within each individual and in the community that makes up the church. We've discovered that when people center their lives in Jesus Christ and practice a listening spirituality, the community life that results begins to reflect the character of Jesus: gentleness, peace, simplicity, equality, integrity... This offers great hope to the world, and it is our joy to share this life with others.

(You might know us from the Pie and Ice Cream Social that we host each year as a part of "Hooverfest" in West Branch. It always begins with a wonderful Hymn Sing, and people come from far and wide to sit in the meetingroom and sing their favorite hymns before enjoying a scrumptious slice of pie and a dollop of ice cream. Mark your calendars... it's always held on the first Saturday of August!)

West Branch Friends Church belongs to an association of 36 Friends Churches or Meetings called Iowa Yearly Meeting. We are further affiliated with Friends United Meeting, headquartered in Richmond, Indiana uniting numerous Friends Churches or Meetings around the world.

"West Branch Friends Church is a fellowship of disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek to be obedient to the leading of the Light of Christ as revealed to each individual by the Holy Spirit and through our understanding of the Scriptures. Recognizing that of God in everyone, we endeavor to promote the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, integrity, equality, peace and justice. We strive to be examples of Christ's love,
and desire that our actions be the evidence of our faith and our faith be the source of our actions."
