WE CELEBRATE GOD’S PRESENCE
Prelude Mary Ellen Gillman/Matt Trossman
The Light is Brought to the Altar
Call to Worship
Here we are, before each other and before the Lord, broken, some of us, bruised, some of us,
bothered, some of us, buoyant, some of us, bristling, some of us, busy, some of us, but
beloved, all of us, in the Lord’s sight, as beautiful children of God.
Hymn Nothing but the Blood Page 362 (Vss. 1 & 4)
Invocation
We come before You this morning addressing You as our Maker, for we bear Your image, and
in You we live and move and have our being. We also address You as our Savior, as the One
who saves us from the perverted powers of the world and from the pernicious presence of evil
within us. We also address You as our friend, as the One who walks beside us in our joys and in
our sorrows, our triumphs and our defeats, our losses, and our loves. Receive us, Lord, as our
maker, savior, and friend. Amen.

Our Morning Prayer
All too often, Lord, we neglect the loved ones who are closest to us. Sometimes we don’t
listen to what they are really saying. Sometimes our words are critical and hurtful. Sometimes
we spend too little time with them. Sometimes we neglect expressions of affection. Pardon us,
we pray, and remind us that life is short, and that we must use the time we have to love each
other. Amen.

Scripture Philippians 3:7-14
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with Himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead. I want to suffer with Him, sharing in His death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

The Finance Committee is happy to offer Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT's) available to our congregation. This will allow you to have your weekly or monthly tithing electronically transferred from your checking or savings account into the Batesville UMC accounts. An approval form must be completed and signed before funds can be electronically transferred. Transfers will take place the 1st of each month (monthly participants) or on each Monday (weekly participants). An email will be sent to you each time a transfer is rendered. The first electronic transaction will start in April. If you are interested in participating in this program, please place your completed approval sheet in the offering plate or the financial secretary mailbox. EFT's can be started or stopped at anytime by contacting Kay Varner, the financial secretary.
No Sunday School on March 28th except for confirmation class. Also, due to Spring Break there will be no Wednesday Night Kid's Club on the 24th but will be rescheduled for the 31st.
