Mike Cleveland, founder of Setting Captives Free:
My name is Mike Cleveland, and though I was a professing Christian, I was in bondage to the sins of impurity, gluttony, laziness, and drunkenness for many years. The Bible says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he" so my habitual sins led to the destruction of my first marriage. I remarried a Christian woman, yet continued with my ongoing sins. As we were having marital problems, we went to a Christian counselor for help. This counselor, unlike any of the therapists and psychologists that I had visited, had the Biblical solution to my sin problem: repentance and forgiveness, and the newness of life that comes through the gospel. He taught me about radical amputation, the cutting off and plucking out of all avenues of sin. He taught me of radical appropriation, the filling of the heart with Christ. He taught me of radical accountability. I ate up this teaching, seeking to apply it in my life, and found forgiveness of my sins in Jesus Christ. I was born again in January of 1999, and then began to grow spiritually.
