Preaching and Teaching: Spiritual Gifts

Pastor Jim has been cited as one of the best preachers in America by the National Preaching Foundation.  Besides his service as a dedicated pastor to each member and constituent, he has encouraged each member to have a ministry.  He shares joyful ministry with elders and deacons elected by the congregation.

First Christian Church, Weeping Water, Nebraska is affiliated with the Southeast Cluster, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska and the Disciples of Christ (Christian) denomination. Jim currently serves as senior minister. He also serves as president of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation in Elmwood, Nebraska, the state board of directors of the Nebraska Mental Health Association, associate evangelist of the United Methodist National Association of Evangelists, the United Methodist Mental Health Network, and is an author of numerous published books including books of sermons, Bible studies on all books of the Bible, counseling and psychotherapy, history, novels, studies, and his latest, Dancing With Bipolar Bears: Living in Joy Despite Illness (iUniverse.com) and Passionate Joy: Building a Wealth of Joy in a World Starved for Love (iUniverse.com).  A prolific worker, he is chaplain/psychotherapist for Valley Hope Treatment Centers in Lincoln and Omaha and campus minister for Southeast Community College in Lincoln.  His visionquests (revivals, crusades) have reached people on all continents of the world.

"There are no falling out of heaven blessed lives, only lives." People know Jim as a team player. In his church he regards himself as 'assistant to the ministers of the church.' He leads in a servant leader concept.
